Leon Wyczółkowski 1852 - 1936. In 150 birthday anniversary of the artist.

In the limits of huge exhibition of Leon Wyczółkowski works, there were presented ca 400
masterpieces of this artist from different periods of his artistic activity - pictures,
drawings, graphics and sculpture.
Leon Wyczółkowski (1852 - 1936) practised oil paintings. At the beginning of XX century,
he used to manifest his interest in graphic, which finally dominated his artistic work. He
practised also sculpture. He creates landscapes, city views, posters and still life.
This exhibition is accompanied with the album - the catalogue of works presented at the
exhibition and the guide-book in English and Polish. |

Andrzej Kowalczyk is the Cracovian artist. His works are famous in many countries. He
painted among others for the court of Denmark Kingdom. This exhibition consists of
drawings presenting history of Poznan, pictures with bachelor topics, illustrations for
"Poznan Calendar" and a lot of other works. |

The exhibition of Louise Bourgeois is the first one being presented in Poland, and the
third one in Europe as a huge retrospection of this artist's art. It combines the artist's
productions since 1940 to2002 - sculpture, graphics, drawings, installations.
Sculptures, drawings and installations are from all periods of the artist's productions.
Her art., you can interpret as a not ending psychoanalyse, that's why she was named by
reviewers as a "grand daughter of Zygmunt Freud". The topics of her works are:
issues connected with desire and memory, this is reflection about the time and existence
in the architecture space.
Louise Bourgeois was born in 1911, her productions began with the early 30's, and the
artist all time creates and displays her activity.
The exhibition is accompanied by the show of film, documentary, artistic materials about
the life and activity of Bourgeois.

"PAN PICASSO AND ME"

The idea of this exhibition was connected with the exhibition PICASSO. TRANSFORMATION
presented in National Museum till 7th February. This exhibition presents a little bit
facetious commentary of the performance in National Museum. There are presented 60 works
from 33 Polish artists, who refer to Picasso's production. We can see the works among
others: Magdalena Abakanowicz, Leon Chwistek, Zygmunt Waliszewski, Eugeniusz Zak, Henryk
Stażewski, Janusz Przybylski, Jonasz Sterna, Wacław Taranczewski and others. The
earliest work - Pitcher of Tymon Niesiołowski is from 1912, and the latest one - the
titled picture of Cracovian painter and graphic Ryszard Grazda from 1986. The important
part of the exhibition are 19 masterpieces of applied art., mainly ceramic and tapestry,
adorned with motives referring to Picasso's art.

In Katowice, Poznan, Warsaw and Wroclaw, in the limits of cycle:: ERA JAZZU, the band
BLACK TRIFACTOR will perform, which leader - drummer Kahil El'Zabar, co-operated with
Chicago jazz-ethnic stage AACM. The rest members of this band are: saxophonist Hamiet
Bluiett, famous in Poland as musician of World Saxophone Quartet and violinist Billy Bang,
who was the founder of Syrvival Ensemble, and the leader of String Trio Of New York. |
